Lizards, Lizards Everywhere!

Last December Jonah got two bearded dragon lizards for Christmas. When we moved to Texas, we had them shipped to meet us when we arrived. They've been very good pets for over a year now so we decided to see if we could make more and share the joy. Well, it worked and we've been watching eggs hatch all week long. Who knew one female lizard could lay over 50 eggs? And what a great homeschool science project!
They're very small.

 And quite pretty.

We have high hopes for all of them because their father is very smart.

By-the-way, if you're interested in buying one, please let us know. I'll be posting an ad on Craigslist soon. As much as we would like to, we simply can't keep them all. Like I said, we want to share the joy.

    1. Ha ha ha. I don't know. We haven't used Portuguese much since we moved to Texas.

  2. You say you decided to "make more" and it worked. You decided? How exactly did you do that? Just curious. Add water? Upped the food intake? Exercise program? Vitamins? Luther Vandross music? Shotgun wedding? What? Do you think there could be any emotional damage that enters the mom and dad relationship now or that will affect the kids? Especially now since you are trying to get rid of them on Craiglist after "making" their parents well, you know. They obviously weren't ready to start a family yet. Did you and John even think this out before changing their family dynamics forever? Two phrases that might haunt you guys forever: "We decided to see if we could make more" (key word is we)......and "What a great homeschool science project!" (exclamation point is key here) I'm thinking of making a call to social services. For sure I will pray for you guys.

    1. First of all, the word goober comes to mind. We "decided" to put them together. They weren't married so we had them each in their own apartment. She got pregnant on their honeymoon and now we have lots of kiddos hatching. Believe me, they aren't equipped to raise them all. I know you've been out of the country for a long time so I'll remind you that it takes a lot to get social services to pay a visit. By-the-way, are you saying you would like me to send you a couple?

  4. Cool. McKenzie had one. She was a really neat pet. She had a harness for it and everything. She had to give it away bacause she couldn't take it with her.

    1. Jonah's been wanting to get a harness for his too. I didn't know McKenzie had a bearded dragon. I only remember the snake--which is what Jonah wants next.

  5. Congrats! That is not an easy thing to do. I see herpetology in Jonah's future.

    1. I absolutely see herpetology in Jonah's future. I have heard from many people that what we have done is not easy to accomplish. Jonah seems to have a way with animals.

  6. You should let Jonah do volunteer work at the Fort Worth Zoo. Most of the herp staff there are very encouraging to young people interested in herps.

  7. Some more key words/phrases that I think are important: "Goober." Very hurtful and cut me to the quick. "We decided to put them together." Say no more. "They aren't equipped to raise them all." Again, maybe some more thought could have been put in before you guys "decided" what was best for this lizard couple. "It takes a lot to get social services to pay a visit." Sounds like you are flaunting your lizard mill and daring the government to be bold enough to look into it. Like, "How dare they! Don't they know we are the Jewell's and we'll make as many lizards as we want!" Like I said before, I"m (we.....all the Christians in POA) are praying for you both. And no, we don't want any lizards from your lizard factory but we pray all these lizardinho's end up in Christian homes!
